Neil Diamond’s Capitol Records debut will arrive next month.
The singer’s Melody Road, his first with the record label, will hit stores Oct. 21. Produced by Jacknife Lee and Don Was, it’s the first studio release of original material from Diamond in six years, 2008’s Home After Dark, and his first record since 2010’s Dreams, which was made up of covers.
The 12-track album includes the title track (and a later reprise), plus songs like “First Time,” “Something Blue” and more. The 11th track, “The Art of Love,” has a newly premiered lyric video as well.
“It takes tremendous vision, focus and determination — combined with a mega-dose of God-given talent, charisma and soul — to create music that becomes indelibly ingrained in the fabric of our culture,” co-producer Was said in a statement about the album. “For decade after decade, Neil’s songs have been such a major part of our lives. Making this record with him has served as a profound reminder of what a powerful and amazing artist he truly is.”
