I try to stay pretty much on the forefront of everything that is going on with social media. I have Twitter, and Facebook, and Instagram. But, this giraffe thing on Facebook, ya, I totally missed the boat on it. Maybe it was because I was in the process of relocating across the country? Sure, we’ll go with that.
The story goes, a guy put a riddle on his Facebook page and if you got the answer wrong, you had to change your profile picture to a giraffe for three days. Based on the virtual herd of giraffes on my newsfeed, I am going to assume that many of my friends got it wrong. Let’s see how you do, here is the riddle:
“3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors. It’s your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?”
Did you get it? I did, which explains why my profile picture is a pretty new headshot, and not a 20 foot tall mammal. If you want the full run down on how this giraffe phenomenon went from a stupid idea, to a global viral juggernaut, check out this Daily Beast article. Happy giraffing!
