‘Gravity’ Shuttles Away The Competition, After Box Office Record Breaking October

Move over horror movies, because a space film has scared away the competition with a new record breaking, box office opening weekend.

‘Gravity’ has taken the top spot, with a staggering $55.6 million dollar opening. The previous record for an October opening weekend, held by ‘Paranormal Activity 3’, came in at $52.6 million dollars in 2011.

Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star as two astronauts stuck in outer space, attempting to get back to earth, after their shuttle is destroyed. The film is getting rave reviews, and is already seen as a favorite to nominated for the Oscar, for best picture of the year.
