Woman Loses $350 In Monkey Website Scam

If you come across something on the internet that seems too good to be true, it probably is. A Michigan woman is learning that truth after losing $350 to a phony website offering monkeys for sale.

UPI.com reports that a 25-year-old woman told police that she and her roommate had tried to buy a pet monkey from the African nation of Cameroon through a website. She says that the website offered the monkey for an initial payment of $50, but the people behind the site pestered her for more money. She made subsequent payments of $200 and $100, but that did not satisfy the demands of the website.

Not only is she out $350 that she will never see again, she’s also without the pet monkey of her dreams. Probably for the best.
