James Gandolfini Dies While In Italy

Actor James Gandolfini passed away of an apparent heart attack while in Italy this week for the Taormina Film Festival, CBS New York is confirming.

The Emmy Award recipient, best known for his roll which won him the roll as Tony Soprano on HBO’s “The Sopranos” was 51-years-old.

“Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply,” his managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders told E! Online Wednesday. “He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving.”

Gandolfini won three Emmy Awards for playing a mob boss for six seasons on David Cross’ hit show.

The star of stage, TV and film is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin their 8-month-old daughter, Liliana and his son Michael from a previous marriage.
