Faith Hill announced last month that she will no longer be singing the intro to NBC’s Sunday Night Football after six years as the intro music to the NFL’s national prime-time game.

Rumors have been swirling since Hill made the announcement and NBC held a conference call today to announce Carrie Underwood will be the singer of the Sunday Night Football theme.

No word yet on if the song will stay “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” which Hill sang, changing the words for the teams playing in that nights game.

“I am thrilled to be a part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me,” Underwood said in a statement released by NBC. “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!”

Her first performance will be the Sept. 8th when the Giants are here in Dallas to play the Cowboys.
