There is one rule of baseball every fan should know: If a pitcher has a perfect game in progress, you don’t ever talk about it while it’s happening.
Last night, any tv that wasn’t watching the Rangers game was quickly flipped over as Yu Darvish took the mound through the 8th inning and into the 9th inning. Up until Houston’s Marwin Gonzalez came up to bat, Darvish had struck out a career high 14 batters.
Ranger fans took to their feet in Houston and around North Texas as the first two batters of the 9th inning were both tagged out at first. Gonzalez was the first batter to find Yu’s pitch and find a hole to hit through and make it on base, thus squashing the perfect game.
