Residents in Irving may have been singing Carol King’s “I Feel The Earth Move” over the weekend, because the earth really did move under our feet Saturday and Sunday night.
At 11:05PM Saturday night, a 3.4 magnitude quake centered near MacArthur and Rochelle shook Irving awake. People described the earthquake feeling like someone was shaking their bed for a few seconds, while others said the jolt felt like a truck hitting their house. A 3.1 magnitude aftershock came 4 minutes after the first at 11:09PM, and it was centered near Loop 12 and I-30 in West Dallas.
Irving got another rattle Sunday night at 10:41. A smaller temblor with a magnitude of 2.1 shook just north of 183 on Carl Rd.
The USGS says we can expect a few aftershocks over the next couple of days.
