American Idol producers are testing the waters in what is being called a “very preliminary” step to see who the new Judges on American Idol season 12 might be. Obviously the producers would like to keep Jennifer Lopez, whose contract is up, but if she goes there will be at least one vacancy at the judges table.
TMZ is reporting that producer Nigel Lythgoe has said that he is pulling for Charlie Sheen and Jerry Lewis to be sitting on the judge’s panel.
Though names like Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Fergie, and Miley Cyrus have been linked to the possible opening, Charlie Sheen is apparently a front-runner.
Fremantle, the company that produces American Idol, says the show is like a giant jigsaw puzzle, and if Lopez goes away, then only certain pieces can be plugged in. If Steven Tyler or Randy Jackson decide to follow suit, then other pieces may make sense.
Now Charlie Sheen has told TMZ that he is 100% in on becoming a judge for season 12 of American Idol, but he does have a few conditions.
First Sheen wants FX, the network that airs his show Anger Management, to sign off on the deal, and Second Sheen wants a favorable money situation.
“If the numbers move the needle AND ‘Idol’ matches 20% of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club … then the h*** with it. As we say, pour the smoke,” Sheen said to TMZ.
