NFL & NBC Point Finger At Each Other Over M.I.A. Gesture

While many believe that Madonna did a very entertaining and enjoyable job during the Super Bowl halftime show, the major headline has been that her co-star in the festivities, M.I.A. flipped the middle finger to the over 100 million people watching.

Well 8 years after Janet Jackson had her clothes ripped off people are looking at who to blame and the (pun intended) finger is pointing all over the place.

As soon as Twitter and Facebook started blowing up about the middle finger British pop star M.I.A. showed the camera during her performance with Madonna and Nicki Minaj you knew someone would have to be accountable. Well it seems the two major parties in the process are blaming each other.

The NFL who books, and produces the halftime show is saying NBC’s delay system failed to cut away from the gesture. Spokesman Brian McCarthy said M.I.A did not do anything similar during rehearsals and the league had no reason to believe she would do something like that during the actual show.

McCarthy did issue up an apology to the fans saying, “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.”

NBC Spokesman Christopher McCloskey also issued an apology to the fans, “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers”. He also pointed out that it is the NFL who produces the show.

While no one is speaking for M.I.A. yet, we think a lot of the blame should fall on the singer who did the act. Think about Janet after her “malfunction”.

Either way, this incident seems to be holding over the top of what was a very entertaining and fabulously produced half time show.

Give a nice $500,000 fine to M.I.A. She’s the dummy who did it.
