Girls have the power to do just about anything today. They can be homecoming queens or play football with the boys, or in the case of Brianna Amat, they can do both. Not only was the Pinckney, Michigan, senior voted homecoming queen by her peers, Brianna also kicked the 31-yard field goal that won the game.
She is the first female on the varsity football team in her school’s history. Her skills on the soccer field got her noticed, and she went head-to-head against two guys to get the position of kicker on the football team.
It was halftime at Pinckney Community High’s homecoming game when Brianna received a note in the locker room to come out to the field. She never thought in a million years she’d be crowned homecoming queen. She accepted her tiara dressed in her football gear.
With 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Brianna was called out to kick a field goal. This was a kick she wanted to make as she had missed an extra point in the first half. From 31-yards out, she wiggled her fingers to relax and sent the football sailing between the posts for her longest field goal. Her kick won the game 9-7 over the opposing team from Grand Blanc.
Her amazing story has spread like wildfire, garnering national attention from ABC, FOX, and the New York Times. With her accomplishments behind her, she plans to earn a degree in business advertising from Western Michigan University.
